The Sky is falling!! Corporations love Chicken Little!!

In lockstep with Chicken Little's "The sky is falling, The sky is falling!", corporations greedily grab the media "Woe is Me" onslaught of coverage to the masses to create another "Golden Goose" at the expense of the American people.
Never underestimate the avarice and heartlessness of corporate profits.
Taking the opportunity is like stealing Mary's Little Lambs.
Cutting jobs and announcing profit losses -translation-, "this is an opportunity to redefine worker expectations.
We can say, "Times are tough", cut salaries, lay off the most senior workers, break unions backs, --
Why!! We can ask for just about anything! And they do!!
Workers give back wages, benefits, lose retirement investments, work less hours, give up lunch hours, add impossible job responsibilities, work overtime without pay, and not one Chicken Little peep!! Keep quiet long enough and who needs labor laws? Terror will be the "new labor law".

The martyr mentality and quick to judge ignorance of the masses if anyone dares to publicly complain about the loss of livlihood bound and gag workers -ah!- the corporate gods are smiling gleefully.

Most of the what you read and hear sells,-sells so well, we all bend over.

Don't ever underestimate the corporate culture my fellow citizens. Ever.
Ironically they are the ones who created this mess taking on massive debt to overextend their brands. Creating profit and loss statements from Grimm's Fairy Tales with the help of the Seven Dwarfs accounting firms-"Hi-Ho-Hi-Ho, creative profit we will show"...

Next time you read or hear about how "The Sky Is Falling" remember, it isn't the corporations' sky, it's ours.

Good Riddance to Chain Restaurants...

I would like to think it's because people are sick to death of the assembly line-unimaginatively herd mentality induced foods produced by greedy corporations-

that forces chain restaurants to go out of business.

Our nation has such a cattle mentality we eat anything with a brand and say we like it.

Larger cities are the greatest sinners-average people herd themselves into Olive Garden, Applebees, TGI Fridays believing the gourmand in them is satiated by the deep fried macaroni and the bread sticks.

Over the past twenty years the decline of the mom and pop restaurant in most large cities hasn't been apparent to most of the herd. If they looked around they might have noticed that any originality in food has been usurped by the wealthy.

Only they have entitled themselves by paying out of this world prices for one of a kind cooking. Anyone who could afford to compete on the grid independently better have some bucks and originality.

Smaller towns survive this pablum induced state of feeding the masses for pleasure.

Mom and Pop restaurants seems to float along atop the appreciation and loyalty of people who get to know the owners and appreciate their efforts.

I am old enough to remember (as a kid) McDonalds was a rare enough sight to consider it special-never in my dreams of largess did I consider it would become a huge, disgusting mess of menu platitudes only made original by those who could screw up your drive through order with such consistency.

Perhaps the chains will become smaller, those managing to have survived this long only because of demand will finally take what probably started as a quality product(i.e. Wendy's) and tuck it away under the category of honest response. Honest response being of course that no crummy, nasty food should be able to compete and make a profit.

Creeping out of the corners of the food chain shadows may emerge those creative dreamers who love to cook and share their imaginative talents appealing to the yearning in us to be connected to real things smaller than a breadbox.

At present the only method of discovering our little gems of culinary artistes is the Food Channel scouting out off the road destinations.

I mourn the loss of human connected food experiences.

I dream and hope they no longer have to suffer the inequities of big corporations which force feed us and pay media to brainwash us .

We Americans are generally a stupid lot- led by the nose to the worst and liking it the entire trip.

Leaving Las Vegas-that is a fact....

Las Vegans like to be number one. That is a fact.

Biggest casino-largest pool-biggest wins-fastest growing city-why, Sherm says people were coming to Vegas in droves-couldn't get here fast enough-or buy up that bargain real estate quick enough-

Las Vegans are also proud of their designation for funding their school kids at the lowest rate in the nation.

They must be proud of the fact they also have the title of being the "Meanest" to the homeless people in Las Vegas as well.

Well, Las VEgans, you can be proud of that designation-you have a few new ones this year, don't you?

Most abandoned homes in the entire USA-doesn't that beat all?

Owners must of thought they were playin with Monopoly Money, eh? Buyin up them homes-and when times get tough-just like those Casino jackpots drying up-just said, "Well, You got all my money, I am cashing out and going home...somewhere else...

Leaving Las Vegas ain't for the weak-those abandoned homes have been trashed, torn apart and now you all are looking at laws to stop people from tearing up those homes before they leave...

Gee, sore sports-aren't you?

Get those builders, assessors and the notorious county government officials(who actually believe taking money from strip owners should be ok..) and you have the trifecta! Corrupt gets as corrupt does.

That mortgage default rate just keeps going up, doesn't it?

Oh, do you think it might have anything to do with the fact Las Vegans love to tell others if you don't like it-leave???

Don't get so sore, libertarians--there just following directions..

Now you can have the city all to yourselves, again-no jobs, no homes, and eventually no people

Don't that beat all??

How Stupidity Follows Stupidity

We Americans really are a stupid bunch- .
Feigning outrage at financial institutions for greediness when we still can't look our own affairs in the eyeballs

Methinks GOP members are laughing their asses silly at how easily we are manipulated. The fact the majority of them took big bucks from AIG to line the campaign coffers doesn't seem to matter to our stupid is as stupid does population of ignorant citizens.

Try putting your outrage where it belongs.

Take a look at the list of politicians with both hands out and quit beating up the AIG Poster Boys for Congressional Excess.

You are on your last legs, fellow citizens.

Read today's headlines in the Las Vegas Sun.

Our legislators just decided to pass on legalizing prostitution as a revenue source for the state of Nevada. They would rather consider that than require the mining corporations and the businesses pay any kind of taxes. Most of our revenue is on the backs of working people and the poor.

It is a belly laugh to consider Las Vegas insulted by President Obama's remark that "No, corporations cannot go to Vegas on the taxpayers dime.

Now our Tourism Council and the city are freaking because corporations are cancelling reservations.

What did they expect when we have a media slogan stating, "What happens here stays here", and a Mayor who advertises for a gin label?

What did they think the world thought of us?

Las Vegas deserves to fail.

The state doesn't care for the citizens, basically the majority of those with money believe if a citizen is ill, disabled, homeless, poor, mentally ill, medically disabled, and now, sadly, unemployed, they deserve to suffer.

Our slogan. "What Happens Here Stays Here?

Is the absolute truth.

If one person who came to this city to party had any idea of how poorly this state cares for the people who live in here they would boycott Las Vegas.

The homeless problem,?

Do you know that before any major convention many homeless are arrested for vagrancy?

Do you know we are the suicide capital of the Unites States?

People who live here and leave increase their chances of staying alive by 50 percent.

We also have the highest crime rates, the highest auto theft rates, the lowest infant mortality rates and the worst funding for any population you can think of.

In fact, right now, Gov. Gibbons has decided to HIDE the availability of medical coverage for children and services to the elderly because the state doesn't have the required money to pay for their portion of the federal match.

Don't come here. Make Nevada clean its house. Force them to deal with the inequity of the tax system, care for it's citizens and ensure a decent education for children.

Boycott this nasty town until it becomes a REAL HOME for the people doing the grunt work for the casinos-shame on the state of Nevada.

Hippies transformed! Republicans!

These were the ideological young adults of the sixties. Believing the "establishment" needed changing-forcing the world to notice- using massive protests and sit-ins, the hippies transformed our country.

Demanding transparency in our government, reminding old line politicians this country was not about corruption and deceit, they managed to oust Nixon from the White House, support the civil liberties act and vote in the most liberal Supreme Court justices in the history of the United States.

Laws favoring equality for men and women, fair housing, labor unions, human rights over police and government control supported a nation believing human rights prevailed over state and government demands.

The Hippies. Influential in a way no other generation in our history has ever attained.

Now they are Republicans.

The "Love it Or Leave It "gang is at it again...

One of the most irritable habits which emerged from the Bush legacy is the "love it or leave gang mentality."

I remember Donald Rumsfeld's comments years ago-to the American people-"People better watch what they say" after the 9-11 terrorist attack.

Since that comment, many angry white men like to use that phrase and attitude as an intellectual argument.

Any argument considered disagreeable is responded with, "Love it or leave it" as if others passions, concerns or fears about our country are any less valid.
The problem with the liberal parties is they are just too polite. Liberal or conservative, we all love this country, I hope. It is why the passions are so close to the surface.

I feel just as strongly about watching what is happening to our country at present.
Eight years of Republican rule has devastated this country. More of the same is insanity. I feel frustrated that the Democratic party does not bite into these issues and fight for us.
I feel frustrated and angry that Republicans still talk tax cuts as a "stimulus",and do not accept responsibility for this mess.
I feel sorrow that our political system continues to play politics while our country's economic system rapidly deteriorates.

I care.
It is why I "feel". I care a lot.
I don't tell others what to feel, or how to think. I respect the fact they care as well.
We may not agree on how, but we can always agree it is better to care than not at all.
It is what America fought for years ago. Our right to express those feelings.
You can tell me to leave, but it isn't much of an argument or debate.. I'm not going anywhere. You probably aren't either.
